Thoughts of...Type-A People
Psychology, man’s self-centered study of himself, has divided human personalities into a few basic types. One, the Type-A personality, is characterized as Aggressive, Assertive, Achievement-driven, and Anger-prone when things don’t go according to plan. I have been told that I am a Type-A person.
Upon reflection, I realize that I am a Type-A person! You see, when I least expected it, I was
Abased (Ps 51:17), totally broken by my abject sinfulness and unworthiness before a holy and just God. In that incredible moment when I surrendered to God and put my faith in Jesus Christ, I was not
Ashamed (Rom 10:11). To my utter
Amazement (Acts 3:1-10), I was healed and
Adopted (Gal 4:5, Eph 1:3-6) into God’s family. Ever since then I have
Adored (Ps 5:7, Ps 29:2, Ps 95:6-7) the One Who loves me with an unspeakable love. Now I
Abide (John 15:1-5) in Him in peace with joy and contentment. There I learned that I have been
Appointed (Luke 22:29, Acts 22:10, Phil 2:13) to do His work and I am
Available (Is 6:8) for whatever He desires to do. That means I must be
Active in my walk with Him (1 Sam 14:6-23, Judges 6:1 – 7:22) by putting feet to my faith. As I walk by faith and not by sight, I am an
Ambassador (Prov 13:17, Eph 6:19-20) for the Name that is above every name. As a result, my enemy
Accuses (Rev 12:10) me constantly before the Throne of God. Nonetheless, I am
Assured (Titus 3:3-7, Heb 10:21-23, Col 2:8-10, John 10:27-30, John 14:1-3) of my place in His kingdom. In the meantime, I
Abound (Rom 15:13) in hope! So overwhelming are the gifts of God. Therefore, I need to never forget that I am
Accountable (Luke 12:48) for all He has given me and share it with
All (Matt 28:19-20).
I am a Type-A man following and serving a Type-A God, the
Ancient of Days (Dan 7:9-22), the eternal and self-existent God, the Beginning and the End, the
Alpha and the Omega (Rev 22:13). He is the Lord God
Almighty (Rev 1:8), Creator of heaven and earth Who
Alone Abides Above (Deut 4:39) His creation. He revealed Himself to man through His Word and then the Word became flesh and
Appeared (John 1:1-4, John 1:14; 1 John 1:1-2) to us, His beloved creatures. Our sin caused Him unimaginable
Agony (Luke 22:44, Mark 15:34). Then He voluntarily shed His precious blood to make the only Acceptable
Atonement (Rom 5:8-11) for us. On the Cross, Jesus Christ left no doubt as to the depth and the breadth of His sacrificial, unconditional
Agape (John 3:16) love for us. But death could not hold him down. He is
Alive (Mark 16:1-6)! And by His eternal life we have eternal life. He is the
Anchor (Heb 6:17-19) of our souls and the Captain of our salvation, the
Author and Finisher (Heb 12:1-2) of our faith. He is our
Advocate (1 John 2:1-2, Rom 8:34) before the Father in heaven. Truly He is
Able (Dan 3:16-18, Dan 6:20-23, Matt 3:6-9, 2 Cor 9:8, 2 Peter 2:9, Jude 1:24-25) to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. In fact, He does far more
Abundantly (Eph 3:20) for us than we can even imagine. I can see clearly now that He is the
Answer (Ps 119:105) to my every question, the Supply of my every need. Yes, we serve an
Awesome (Ps 33:8) God! We call Him
Abba Father (Rom 8:14-16, Gal 4:6)!
Someday very soon Jesus Christ is coming for All His Type-A people!
Amen and Alleluia!
