Last fall we initiated our Mid-Week service. The cornerstone ministry for that service is the Children’s ministry program called Good News Club. Chock full of Bible teaching and activities, the Good News Club is a wonderful investment in our children.
One of the things the Good News Club did to help defray the cost of student workbooks, teacher guide books, student awards, and supplies was to sell a nice quality ball point pen inscribed with “CALVARY CHAPEL AHWATUKEE” and its theme verse, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path Psalm 119:105”.
The company from which we purchased those pens has periodically over the past year sent me samples of other styles of pens, inscribed with “CALVARY CHAPEL AHWATUKEE”, in hopes of stimulating another order from us. The most recent sample, however, arrived inscribed as “ANALOG ONE”.
We got the wrong pen. Which means someone else got our pen. A mistake had been made, right? Only if you look at the situation through eyes of sight.
If you look at it through the eyes of faith, the sovereign God planted our pen with His Word in “another field” (Matt 13:18-23). The shipping error by man was used by the Lord to sow The Seed. Since He is all-knowing and all-powerful, this simple “error” really happened by His design.
If that Seed falls on good soil, we will be blessed in the age to come with fruit reaped from a wayward Good News Club pen (Is 55:10-11). Please understand that the sovereign God uses everything, even a seemingly insignificant pen (Rom 8:28).
But more than any pen, the Lord desires to use us to accomplish His purposes! Imagine how much of the Father’s business (Luke 2:49, Luke 19:10) would be accomplished in and through each of us if we but KNEW and LIVED, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” (1 Cor 6:19-20)
For those of you who fellowship at Calvary Chapel Ahwatukee, the Lord is looking for people who are available to be “sowers” and “investment managers” in the Good News Club. He provides everything, He does everything. All He needs is an available heart to bless and to bless through. Will you be useful?
For those of you who fellowship elsewhere, are you useful in that place?
